In Japan, dragons—revered as deities of nature—were worshipped long before the construction of shrines and temples. In this work, I depict a dragon drawn with traditional line-drawing techniques, set against a dreamlike background created using tarashikomi, a uniquely Japanese painting method.
The Sydney Opera House is placed within this scene as a symbol of Australia, and the dragon is portrayed as its guardian spirit.
Through this piece, I express a wish for peace and the protection of everyday life, entrusting these hopes to the divine dragon—so that, even amid constant global change, what is precious may remain enduring and untouched.
