n the Chinese zodiac, the dragon was the symbol of the year 2024. The dragon is regarded as a sacred mythical creature that serves as a bridge between the human and divine realms.
The background of this piece was created using tarashikomi(たらしこみ）—a uniquely Japanese painting technique employed by Rinpa school artists during the Edo period—to evoke a dreamlike, ethereal atmosphere.
The dragon depicted here was inspired by Tawaraya Sōtatsu’s famous “Twin Dragons Folding Screen.”
Using traditional line-drawing techniques, I rendered the dragon with a refined and classic elegance, capturing its timeless and dignified spirit.
